Synopsis
Lily is the poorest scholarship kid at Blackwood University, a school built for old money. Hudson is the hockey captain and one of the richest guys on campus, living in a suite nicknamed the elite four with his roommates Zack, Christian, and Ryder. When rumors spread that Lily is impossible to get and keeps a diary full of secrets, Hudson becomes obsessed with finding out what's inside. He bets his roommates he can make her his girlfriend in a few months. After he steals her diary and reads it aloud in his dorm, Lily decides to get revenge. She fills a fake diary with entries suggesting she's interested in one of his roommates, then agrees to date Hudson to get closer to them. At a steakhouse dinner, she meets Zack, Christian, and Ryder. She pretends to have a peanut allergy to test Hudson, then subtly flirts with each roommate, pushing Christian's water toward him and mentioning his stomach condition. Hudson grows suspicious and competitive, realizing he's no longer just a bet but a prize to win. The roommates' egos clash as they each believe Lily is into them, and Lily's performance becomes increasingly risky as Hudson watches her every move.
Most people would cry if their diary got stolen and read aloud in a room full of rich guys. Lily smiled, said thank you, and started planning.
Because the diary Hudson stole wasn't real. Every word in it was bait — and he walked right into the trap.
The Bet That Started Everything
Lily is the poorest scholarship kid at Blackwood University, a campus built for old money. She works shifts, tracks every penny by hand, and smiles sweetly so nobody messes with her.
Hudson is the hockey captain, one of the richest guys on campus, living in a dorm suite so famous it has a nickname: the elite four.
Then a rumor spread that Lily was impossible to get — and kept a diary full of secrets. Hudson became obsessed. He bet his roommates he could make her his girlfriend in a few months. She turned him down again and again, and he treated every no like a challenge.
He got so desperate he paid someone to cause trouble at her diner job, just so he could swoop in and play hero.
That was the moment she stopped playing nice.

"My archnemesis, Hudson, stole my diary," she says.
He read it aloud in his dorm, roommates crowding around — and the first page said she only agreed to date him to get closer to one of them. Dead silence. Hudson looked wrecked.
But Lily already knew. "I already knew why he read my diary—the one I'd filled with fake crap just for him."
She had built the whole thing on purpose. Now he'd humiliated himself in front of his friends with her words.
The Girlfriend Who Was Never Really His
Hudson showed up demanding she meet his roommates. Lily lit up like a sweet, nervous girlfriend.
Then he sent her money to skip her shift — again and again and again — until she sent it back and he snatched her phone. She checked her balance and put on her best touched face.
"Hudson, you're so good to me."
The steakhouse dinner is where the plan really gets fun.
Zack has a crooked smile and a family that runs the city's biggest mafia empire. Christian is the student council president with wire-rimmed glasses, perfect manners, and a stomach ulcer behind that warm smile. Ryder is the racer.
All three smirked at the idea of a broke scholarship girl using Hudson to get to one of them.

Lily cursed all three in her head. On the outside, she smiled.
She ordered nothing — one entree cost more than she makes in a month. Then she asked if there were peanuts in the dishes. Hudson froze. He couldn't admit he had no idea what his own girlfriend could eat.
She never let him off the hook. "I'm not allergic to peanuts. I'd had a peanut butter milkshake that morning."
Small world, she said sweetly.
Four Boys, One Very Fake Diary
Then the real show started.
Lily's eyes went down, up at Zack. Down, up at Christian. Down, up at Ryder. A little longing for each of them, nobody left out.
"Best performance of my life."
She pushed her sparkling water toward Christian and asked if he needed to take his medicine first. She let slip that she'd tried out for student council and got cut — just enough sadness in her voice — then smiled again.
She even knew about his stomach condition, because she'd looked into his file. Useful information for future flattery.
She lost that student council spot to a girl who donated a million dollars and ran Christian's biggest fan page. She is still not over it.
Hudson watched all of it. He couldn't see the eye work, but he saw everything else. His face shifted like he'd just solved a puzzle.
"So it's you," he said, staring at Christian.
Here's the trap inside the trap: Hudson can't call her out. His ego won't let him admit he read her diary. He needs to know which roommate she actually likes. And the second he thinks she wants one of his friends, she stops being a bet and becomes a prize he has to win.
Lily isn't just playing the roommates. She's playing him.
Who Will Beg First?
Right now Hudson is suspicious. Zack, Christian, and Ryder each think they're the one she wants. And Lily is walking a tightrope in heels — one wrong glance away from the whole act collapsing.
The fake diary is still out there. The truth is still buried. And four boys who've never lost anything are about to find out what it feels like to be played.
